The Association of British Bookmakers has finally and permanently replaced former CEO Dirk Vennix, who departed for greener pastures in January this year (see previous report).
The new man at the top is Malcolm George, a 1985 University of Warwick BA Honours graduate in economics and international studies with an impressive resume that includes management posts for technology oriented firms like Hewlett Packard, Dell and Electronic Data Systems, where he has played important roles in government liaison.
Given the negative media coverage, and political and action group pressure to which UK betting shops and especially Fixed Odds Betting Terminals have been subjected, the new CEO will undoubtedly have been busy since his appointment on June 1st.
