New chief for Responsible Gambling Strategy Board

The retiring Responsible Gambling Strategy Board chairman, Sir Brian Pomeroy will be replaced by Sir Christopher Kelly, according to a statement from the UK Gambling Commission.

The RGSB operates in conjunction with the Responsible Gambling Trust fundraising and distribution body, advising the Gambling Commission and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on research, education and treatment issues.

Sir Christopher is currently chairman of The King’s Fund, the TPO Foundation and the Committee on Standards in Public Life but will be stepping down from these posts in March in order to focus on his new RGSB responsibilities.

His professional experience includes 25 years with the British Treasury; two years as chairman of the policy board at the Department of Social Security; a period as Permanent Secretary to the Department of Health; and 9 years as chairman for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
