Australian gambling group Tabcorp has promoted from within to replace chief marketing officer Michael Smith, who left after just ten months in office towards the end of last year (see previous report).
The board has selected Claire Murphy after a four month hunt for Smith’s replacement and a total review of the marketing structure.
Murphy joined Tabcorp in January 2015 as general manager marketing for keno and gaming, reporting to Smith.
When Smith departed she was appointed interim CMO pending a permanent appointment, which has now been formalised.
Murphy heads a centralised marketing structure, with team leaders embedded across the three business divisions of the company – wagering and media, keno and gaming services.
She is well suited for the CMO role, having wide experience in sporting and gaming with Melbourne Storm, World Wrestling Entertainment and Visit London, and senior marketing management experience with Crown and William Hill.
