HB149, a bill seeking to legalise daily fantasy sports in the state of Florida authored by Rep. Jason Brodeur, was advanced by a House committee Tuesday, raising hopes for rapid progress instead of a repeat of last year’s failure of a similar bill (see previous reports).
The measure proposes that betting on fantasy contests should be allowed as long as the sponsor of the contest is not a participant.
HB149 could become a companion bill to SB8, a wider Senate proposal launched by Sen. Bill Galvano that includes provisions for the legalisation of fantasy sports.
