New Delhi police report that illegal gambling operators fronted by internet cafe structures are using new technical tactics in offering gambling to customers – a combination of pre-loaded desktop computers and PlayStation consoles.
The new modus operandi was uncovered by officers raiding an internet cafe over the weekend, in which six individuals were arrested on gambling charges.
A police spokesman told local reporters that the faux internet cafe contained PlayStations and desktop computers, all of which were being used for online gambling.
“Betting racket software was installed in the PlayStation, which was connected with the computer, through which the gambling racket was running,” said a senior police officer, who reported that 15 machines in all were seized.
