Back in May this year the UK land and online gambling group Ladbrokes announced that William Hill exec Jim Mullen would be joining the company later in the year. That appointment comes to fruition in a few days’ time when Mullen takes up his Ladbrokes responsibilities as director of digital operations, reporting to group CEO Richard Glynn.
The appointment comes at a critical time for Ladbrokes, which is moving away from long-time software provider Microgaming and into the arms of Playtech in a marketing and software arrangement.
Mullen will be interacting closely with the new marketing team in Tel Aviv-based Ladbrokes Israel, and shareholders will be anticipating a marked turnaround from the mediocre performance of Digital that has so far been apparent.
With years of experience in the role of Chief Operating Officer for the very successful online gambling activities of William Hill, Mullen is experienced in both the sector and interacting with Playtech, which delivered good results in the William Hill Online joint venture over the past few years prior to Hills buying out Playtech’s share and moving on.
At Ladbrokes, Nick Rust has been holding the fort and will concentrate on the UK and Irish retail business of the group once Mullen has taken up the Digital reins.
