Leading European sports betting providers have formed the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV).
The DSWV’s tenet is to ensure a legally stable sports betting regulation in Germany following years of uncertainty.
Former mybet chief executive officer Mathias Dahms, who serves as president of the association, said: “The current situation is untenable. Our goal is to remove the legal uncertainty and to ensure safe betting, both for consumers and providers“.
The DSWV invisages itself as representing the positions of sports betting operators and agents in Germany as well as serving as a central contact partner for stakeholders in the areas of politics, sports and media.
Peter Ramsauer, chairman of the Committee on Economics and Energy Affairs in the German Bundestag, welcomed the founding of the DSWV, “This association is a strong ally in the war against illegal gambling and addiction.“
Founding members of the new association comprise: Betfair, StanleyBet, Tipico, bet365, mybet SE, BetterBet, Happy Bet Sportwetten, Admiral Sportwetten, CashPoint Sportwetten, Deutsche Sportwetten and Ladbrokes.
All eleven founding members own sports betting licenses in Schleswig-Holstein and/or are in the final round of the nationwide sports betting licensing process.
