Revenue figures for online gambling in New Jersey were released Thursday by the Division of Gaming Enforcement but, whilst showing a 12.1 percent year-on-year improvement, the numbers were significantly lower than the twenty percent or more growth achieved in recent months (see previous reports).
Online operators recorded overall revenue of $22.7 million, with the online casino vertical contributing $20.9 million – a 13.1 percent improvement compared to the same period a year ago.
Online poker delivered just $1.757 million despite the shared liquidity deal between Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware.
The regulator said that the online casino numbers for the year to date are up 18 percent at $128.4 million, but online poker is down 11.5 percent at $11.1 million.
In June the market leader in the online sector was once again Golden Nugget with revenue of $8.37 million – a 50.1 percent y-o-y rise. Borgata trailed on a little over $4 million, with Tropicana next on
$3.6 million, and Resorts Digital on $3.35 million. Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey reported $3.31 million.
The numbers for July will be interesting, embracing as they will the new online operations launched by Hard Rock and Ocean Resorts. The position regarding online sports betting in the newly liberalised market is not clear at present.
