New Jersey’s failure to persuade the courts to allow it to offer intrastate sports betting (see previous reports) has not deterred the state’s Monmouth racetrack from actively considering another possibility – the booming daily fantasy sports betting vertical.
The track announced Saturday that it will start offering fantasy sports betting in the near future, although it gave no details on the new product or precise launch information.
Legal representative Dennis Drazin told the Associated Press news agency that the state’s defeat in the courts on its attempt to by-pass the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act does not preclude Monmouth from going after the online fantasy sports market, a pastime that is legal in the majority of US states.
