New Jersey governor Chris Christie said he was prepared to fight for the right to legalise sports betting in his state, and he proved good to his word this week, hiring top Washington DC law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher to defend the state against a law suit initiated by major US sports leagues.
Two partners in the firm, Theodore B. Olson and Matthew D. McGill, will represent the Garden State in engaging with the sports leagues’ legal representatives at a preliminary conference Tuesday.
