New marketing chief for Skybet

The Leeds, England-based online gambling group Sky Bet has hired a new marketing director, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported late Friday.

Former newspaper marketing director Rob Painter joins the gambling group, replacing Ted Moss who has been promoted to brand director for premium products such as Sky Sports and Sky Movies.

Painter has spent the last 15 years in the newspaper business, with former responsibilities including marketing director at The Times and The Sunday Times.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the Sky Betting and Gaming team in Leeds to continue to grow the awareness and reputation of the brand,” said Painter.

Sky Bet employs a staff of around 500 people and offers sports betting, poker, casino game services via the internet, interactive TV and mobile phones to customers in the UK and has experienced double-digit turnover growth in recent years.

Richard Flint, managing director of the betting firm, said: “Sky Betting and Gaming has developed hugely over the last year and this rapid expansion makes it the perfect time for Rob to come on board.”
