The Grand Belize Entertainment Group has announced plans to build a world-class casino resort and spa paired with an online casino based in the Central American country.
A spokesman for Grand Belize Entertainment said Monday that land casino gaming is projected to be a $390 billion global industry, with the online gaming segment one of the fastest growing, delivering an average growth rate of 23 percent per year since 2003 and 32 percent in 2011 alone.
Michael Glauser, chief operating officer for Grand Belize Entertainment, revealed that Peak Gaming Group will support the development, launch, and management of the online casino, which is scheduled to debut worldwide in the second quarter 2014.
Blue Sky Advisory Group has been selected to assist in the development and manage the day-to-day operation of the associated land casino resort and spa.
Initial plans call for the resort casino to encompass nearly 315,000 square feet, with approximately 700 slot machines and 20 to 25 gaming tables. In addition to the casino, there will be private gaming areas as well as mobile gaming applications available throughout the property’s restaurant and lounges.
The resort hotel will offer up to 200 guest rooms and suites. The architecture and quality of construction will reflect its intended positioning as the finest overnight destination in Belize.
Another key component of the project will be the development of a 40,000 square-foot duty free retail offering that will include upscale retail shops by many of the world’s leading designers.
Groundbreaking for the property is scheduled early 2014 with a grand opening planned for 2015.
