Online betting exchange Betfair has appointed Nick Hagen in the position of Sports Operations Director.
Hagen who currently serves as chief operating officer for Sports Betting at Lottomatica’s GTECH G2 will join Betfair on December 12, 2011 and will be based at the company’s Hammersmith headquarters.
Responsibilities will include the development of Betfair’s risk based systems, which will play a greater role within the core exchange following the launch of its new sports site next year and managing the firm’s trading operations.
Commenting on his appointment, Nick Hagen said: “Betfair has a truly unique and innovative sports betting proposition and I look forward to being part of the team who will develop this through a high class risk offering.”
Ian Chuter, Director of Operations added: “Nick brings a massive amount of relevant experience to Betfair and I am confident that his experience and drive will enable us to reach our goal of becoming the provider of the ultimate sports betting experience.”
Betfair’s latest hire follows a raft of high profile appointments that include Breon Corcoran as chief executive officer (formerly Paddy Power), Ian Chuter as group operations director, Peter Markus as UK director and Matt Robinson as emerging markets director .
