Only a quarter of Iowans want legalised online gambling, the Des Moines Register newspaper declared this week after conducting one of its regular state polls of 703 respondents on a variety of local issues ranging from texting whilst driving to bans on fireworks.
The poll was conducted in late February by independent company Selzer & Co., which based its conclusions on interviews with 703 Iowans ages 18 or older. Interviewers contacted households with randomly selected landline and cellphone numbers. Responses were adjusted by age, sex and congressional district to reflect the general population based on recent census data.
The results have a maximum margin for error of 3.7 percentage points either way.
