NJDGE fines Rush Street Interactive

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has sanctioned Rush Street Interactive for age verification failings between November 2016 and January 2018.
The failings, discovered in January 2018, and self-reported by Rush Street Interactive, were as a result of a software fault in which registrant’s birthdays were not accurately recorded.
Accounts were created and online bets placed by thirteen people between the ages of 18 and 20, under the permitted age of 21 years and older. Wagers of almost $5,000 were placed through those accounts.
The NJDGE imposed a $30,000 civil penalty against Rush Street Interactive for the violation, the first sanction for an underage internet gambling failing since the sector’s launch.
“We take this matter very seriously,” Rush Street Interactive said in a public statement. “As soon as our team discovered the misconfiguration, we self-reported it to the gaming commission and took immediate action to correct and prevent recurrence. Responsible gaming is a top priority for us.”
