The world famous Wembley Stadium, currently the subject of a GBP 800 million acquisition deal by a Pakistani-American billionaire, may be prevented from accepting any stadium gambling sponsorships, a report in The Times newspaper claims, citing conditions requested by the English Football Association.
The latest condition follows earlier reports that businessman and Fulham FC club owner Shahid Khan will also have to forego re-naming the stadium until 2057 if his offer is accepted.
English football has stringent rules prohibiting coaches, referees and players from gambling on games and last year the FA severed a commercial partnership with Ladbrokes, although collaborative arrangements on game integrity were maintained (see previous report).
