Last week’s wide media coverage reporting that Playtech associate Montford has been granted an exclusive monopoly to provide games for Philippines Offshore Gaming Operators (see previous report) has apparently stung regulator Pagcor into a response.
In a clarification statement the regulator points out that Montford was the only supplier-operator to respond to its invitation last September to submit applications for “accreditation for their gaming software providers.”
When no further applications had been submitted by the two-week deadline, Montford received approval, which remains – for now – exclusive because there was no other approved applications.
Pagcor has now clarified that it was not granting a monopoly, and that other applicants for accreditation will be welcomed. The regulator stressed that it “does not aim to limit POGO licensees on their preference regarding the use of RNG-based games for their respective offshore gaming operations.”
