Following a protracted process that has included a legal challenge from Novamedia, state gambling monopoly Norsk Tipping has finally been given Norwegian Ministry of Culture approval for the launch of a new geolocation game.
The game, developed by Genera Networks and titled Nabolaget, follows a TV lottery game format with a live draw once a week.
The concept awards a substantial prize to another player that lives geographically closest to the winner of the main draw and carries the strapline “If you win, your next door neighbour wins”.
Maria Sandell, chief executive officer of Genera Networks expects the game to be delivering turnover of around Euro 180 million within its third year, proceeds of which will be allocated to Norwegian charities and state health care.
