The head of the Philippines Bureau of Immigration, Jaime Morente, told reporters Friday that his officials have arrested a total of 25 South Korean nationals on charges of illegal online gambling (13 arrests) and fraudulent online property transactions (12 arrests).
The arrests took place Wednesday in Manila, and follow the Monday detention of four other South Koreans in the city on fraud and voice phishing offences, Morente said.
The National Bureau of Investigation also reported an online gambling ring shuttering with the arrest of 5 South Korean nationals on Tuesday this week (see previous report).
