Senate Study Bill 1168 will be reviewed by an Iowa subcommittee this week, a new bill introduced by Senator Roby Smith who chairs the Committee on State Government.
The bill, one of eight in play, authorises online, mobile and fantasy sports betting and requires customers to register at licensed land-based sports books.
The details regarding taxes and fees, penalties and implementation dates are expected to be fleshed out in a House Bill due for introduction this week.
The new West Virginia Lottery Interactive Wagering Act, sponsored by Jason Barrett and co-sponsored by ten other lawmakers, has been advanced by the House Judiciary Committee.
Under the proposal, the State’s five casinos would be authorised to offer online gambling including slots, table games and poker.
Operator licenses would cost $250,000 each and the industry would be regulated by the West Virginia Lottery Commission.
The bill is en route to Finance.
