The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is taking no chances when it comes to corruption and improper player betting by reportedly blocking access to betting-related websites at the National Tennis Centre grounds during the U.S. Open Tennis Championship tournament currently underway in New York.
A spokesperson from the USTA confirmed the move to the New York Daily News saying all domestic and international sites on computer networks in the players’ lounge and media centre will be censored. “Anywhere we have control over it,” said the spokesperson.
A memorandum handed to credential holders threatening suspension of tournament passes if the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Code was found to have been violated, accompanied the measure.
