The Scottish Professional Football League is reportedly in talks with mobile gambling company Fruity Kings to explore the possibility of a three-year sponsorship for four league teams at around GBP 1.75 million a year.
The Daily Record newspaper claims to have seen leaked emails discussing the agreement between the SPFL’s head of partnerships Keith Campbell and a broker acting on behalf of Fruity Kings.
Fruity Kings is no stranger to football sponsorships and is reported to be negotiating with several English clubs.
The gambling company has confirmed the talks with a spokesperson saying: “It is an opportunity to position our brand as the focal point of the national game and the most prestigious prize in Scotland.”
However, an SPFL spokesman was cagey in answering media enquiries, saying that the organisation is talking to a number of potential sponsors, and that negotiations would continue into the new year.
