The British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s performance figures for fiscal 2015 ended March 31 2016 show that online gambling was an outstanding performer, with the company’s PlayNow.com subsidiary delivering year-on-year revenue growth better than expectations of 24 percent at Cdn$135.5 million.
BCLC’s online division earned twice the revenue of its equivalent in Quebec – EspaceJeux.com – with officials attributing the superior performance to continual product enhancements and innovation, and a faster implementation system.
Overall, the land and online gambling Corporation’s profit was up 4.7 percent year-on-year at Cdn$1.31 billion on total revenue of Cdn$3.1 billion, prompting Corporation officials to boast that BCLC is the only Canadian provincial gambling monopoly that has not seen a decline in revenue in fiscal 2015.
Lottery revenue in the province rose 15.8 percent to Cdn$1.15 billion, the highest growth among Canadian lotteries, but land casino operations remained largely flat with revenue at Cdn$1.81 billion.
