Despite the hostile legal and political climate still pervading the USA, Americans continued to visit online gambling sites, according to latest comScore Media Metrix statistics as reported by mGamingWatch.
Over the summer period August and September 2013 there were sufficient visitors to online gambling sites to keep the genre in the Top Ten list of most visited websites kept by the independent Web monitor.
The total numbers visiting websites stayed more or less stable over the two month period – 225,257 in August and 225,271 in September, with “Family and Youth – Education” websites attracting the most visits, with September up 29 percent at 48,339 compared to the previous month’s 37,539.
“News and Info – Politics” prompted visits to relevant websites as the US government shutdown crisis evolved, with August recording 44,134 and September 48,936.
Online gambling just squeaked into the Top Ten with 13,978 in August and 14628 in September – a 5 percent rise.
