Interim results released this week by the UK online and land gambling group Rank plc show that the group’s interactive division has generated revenues double those of the parent group.
Group revenues over the 40 week period increased by 7 percent, whilst those of the interactive division, which includes Blue Square, Mecca Bingo and G Casino, grew by 15 percent.
Weeks 27 to 40 were particularly satisfying for the online interests, which achieved growth of 26 percent over this period following committed investment in marketing and site improvements. Sportsbook operations were especially rewarding, with revenues up 34 percent
Reporting on the internet operations, Management observed: “We note that the Government is still considering changes to the regulation of remote gambling in Great Britain. We have made it clear that we would support these measures so long as they are delivered within the context of a broader equalisation of regulatory and fiscal conditions for land-based operators.”
