Loto-Quebec’s fiscal 2017-18 report released Thursday reveals that the online operations of subsidiary Espace Jeux delivered the best growth and passed the Cdn$ 100 million benchmark for the first time.
Online revenue surged 37.5 percent year-on-year to Cdn$ 118 million, eclipsing the already impressive 29.7 percent growth experienced in the preceding fiscal year.
Breaking the online numbers down, online casino accounted for Cdn$ 64.3 million – a 40.6 percent improvement, whilst online lottery sales grew 34 percent to Cdn$ 53.7 million.
Overall Loto-Quebec group revenue reached Cdn$ 3.77 billion – up 3.7 percent year-on-year.
The group remains focussed on encouraging the provincial government to keep external competition to Espace Jeux out of the market by compelling ISPs to block rival domains, a controversial initiative that has been widely criticised as unconstitutional and protectionist.
