The Ontario Lottery is set to launch its interesting new hybrid retail-online product “Hit or Miss” today (Tuesday) amid claims by anti-gambling activists that the product will exacerbate the Canadian province’s problem gambling issues.
Hit Or Miss players must buy their tickets from a retail lottery outlet, but can watch the draws on the lottery’s mobile app or on its PlayOLG.ca website.
The draws are carried out every five minutes, prompting critics to claim that this will encourage compulsive gambling
Lottery spokesman Tony Bitonti has responded to these claims by asserting that Hit Or Miss is no more of a threat than widely used instant win games, and that because the draws are presented online, viewers have full access to responsible gaming tools provided on the PlayOLG website.
