Stefano Mallia, a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has been appointed as the committee’s rapporteur for the compilation and submission of the committee’s opinion on the EU Green Paper on Online Gambling reports the Malta Times.
The EESC is an integral part of the EU’s decision-making process and must be consulted before decisions are taken on economic and social policy. The EESC has 344 members – the number from each EU country roughly reflecting the size of its population. Malta has five members, the smallest within the Committee. Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom each have 24 members, the highest number.
