The growing daily fantasy sports sector in the UK has a new contender this week following the launch of real-money action by daily fantasy football operator Oulala.com.

Founded in 2013, Oulala allows users to deploy their knowledge and skills to create their own fantasy football team and compete against their friends or other users and bet real money.

The operator claims it uses a unique scoring system, created using historical data provided by Opta. The platform also claims to be the first to offer users the opportunity to make changes in ‘real time’ as games are played.

Users can choose from multiple daily leagues and can choose players from many football leagues, including England, Spain, France and Italy.

Launched by Malta-based entrepreneurs Valery Bollier and Benjamin Carlotti, Oulala has secured more than GBP 1.5 million in investment to date from business organisations and business angels including the Maltese Ministry of the Economy and Google – which rewarded Oulala as one of the most innovative start-up businesses of 2014.

Current investors include British businessman Graham Martin, who is about to become a shareholder via Cardinal House Group.

Martin praised the innovative nature of Oulala’s founders and revealed that plans are in progress to launch in Australia this year in conjunction with Asian media partners.

Co-founder Bollier, who is also CEO of the company, says that Oulala plans to raise a further GBP 7 million in investment funding, allowing it to expand into new markets and attract players.
