Outgoing CEO at Paddy Power Betfair, Breon Corcoran, is the hot choice for the top Uber job in Northern Europe, according to a weekend report in the UK business publication This Is Money.
The position became vacant last week with the resignation of Jo Bertram, and Corcoran is the favoured candidate among a short list that includes Facebook’s UK boss Nicola Mendelsohn.
This is Money reports that Uber’s new global chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi flew in to Britain last week to try to smooth things over with transport authorities in London, who refused to renew Uber’s private hire licence due to concerns over safety checks and its reporting of crimes.
The company, which has 40,000 drivers and 3.5 million customers in London, is also searching for a UK chairman.
Uber has until Friday to lodge an appeal against being stripped of its licence.
