The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned Paddy Power’s TV advertisement centered on the Cheltenham Festival and transgender race goers .
The authority received 92 complaints from The Kent Transgender Forum, LGBT Diversity and 90 others challenging whether the ad was offensive.
On making its determination, the ASA sought input from the Trans Media Watch – an organisation whose specific focus is on the media portrayal of transgender issues and people.
The complaint was upheld and Paddy Power banned from airing the ad in its current form as it “irresponsibly reinforced negative stereotypes”.
