The marketing publication Drum reports that 20-year marketing professional Gav Thompson has been appointed to the Chief Marketing Officer post at land and online gambling group Paddy Power, and will take up his new responsibilities in June this year.
Thompson has worked with several major companies in a successful strategic marketing career, including Guinness, PlayStation, Toyota, 3, Absolut, Pepsi, FedEx, Bacardi, O2 and giffgaff.
Andy McCue, chief executive of Paddy Power described Thompson as “…a world-class marketing talent, and his passion for customers, brand experiences and innovation matches perfectly with Paddy Power’s.”
“I have always been a huge fan of the Paddy Power brand,” Thompson said this week. “The brand is over-flowing with creativity, entertainment, disruption, innovation and mischief. To be asked to be CMO of such a unique proposition is a real honour.”
Thompson’s appointment comes after the promotion of Christian Woolfenden from chief management officer at Paddy Power to managing director as part of a senior management shake-up in December.
