With election fever at its height today (Thursday) as British voters headed for the pools in a general election, land and online betting group Paddy Power pulled one of its famous publicity stunts, hiring a large green truck emblazoned with the words “You’re getting sacked in the morning” and parking it in front of the Houses of Parliament in London.
Paddy Power is betting on some currently sitting 75 MPs being given their marching orders after the election, and the truck trick was designed to publicise the betting market the company is offering on who they might be.
Prominent among them are Scotland’s Labour leader Jim Murphy and Lib Dem finance man Danny Alexander.
After weeks of running neck-and-neck in the race to be Prime Minister David Cameron appears to have taken a late lead over Labour’s Ed Miliband, according to the Paddy Power numbers.
