Without giving detailed explanations, the Philippines gambling regulator Pagcor has announced management changes in its Gaming Licensing and Development Department.
Lawyer Angeline P. Papica-Entienza has been appointed to head the department and will also become an assistant vice president, replacing Ramon Villaflor who recently stepped down.
Rowena Alcaide has been appointed senior manager in the Casino Licensing and Regulatory unit, and replaces the recently departed Dave Sevilla, and Angelie Agustin joins the Responsible Gaming and Logistics unit as a senior manager, replacing Luis Dela Concepcion.
In Pagcor’s Remote Gaming Unit, legal expert Jeremy Luglug has been promoted acting senior manager following the departure of Maria Perpetua Flor.
Pagcor has been navigating a stormy period in recent months following its decision to impose a moratorium on new land casino licenses, and a presidential uproar over the issue of a provisional licence to Macau casino firm Galaxy Entertainment Group to build a US$500 million integrated resort on the holiday island of Boracay.
President Duterte has publicly asserted that there will be no casinos on the island, raising the possibility that Pagcor may have to renege on its agreement.
The regulator is also embroiled in a row over licensing for Korean casino operator Landing International Development Corp., which has had a lease agreement to develop and operate an integrated resort in Manila’s Entertainment City precinct put on hold due to the lack of a gaming licence and a dispute over the leasing of land.
