The immigration authorities in the Philippines are working on deportation orders for some 73 foreign nationals hailing from China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, America, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea following an online gambling ring bust by the police in Makati.
The raid followed a tip-off from an anonymous member of the public.
Immigration officials told local media reporters that the foreigners were workers at a three story building housing the illegal online gambling ring, which was operating under cover of a company titled Super 7 Ventures.
“These foreigners are engaged in online betting, and that is illegal,” senior Immigration official Jose Carlitos Licas, said, adding that none of the individuals detained have work permits.
