Reports in the Philippines media indicate that after months of appeals, what’s left of the Philweb group may be returning to the gambling industry following its approval as a service provider by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).
Our readers may recall that the company was forced to shut down last year after its licence expired and following the rampage through the online industry of then newly elected president Rodrigo Duterte.
The reports note that Philweb has been given a Provisional Certificate of Accreditation as an Electronic Gaming System (EGS) service provider. That enables it to offer its software and other services to operators of Pagcor-licensed gaming sites for electronic games.
Pagcor will conduct an inspection of the company’s servers and gaming services, and if that is successfuil Philweb will be permitted to commence operations.
Pagcor chair Andrea Domingo said the new accreditation process gives operators more choice in their service providers.
“This allows for a level playing field for any qualified provider,” she said.
Philweb president Dennis Valdes said in a statement:
“We are grateful to Pagcor chairman Domingo and the entire Board of Directors of Pagcor for their faith in our company and for giving us the opportunity to deliver services to their electronic gaming operators once again.”
