Barry Gibson (59), who has been an independent non-executive director of online gambling software provider Playtech plc since March 2011, has resigned with immediate effect to pursue other business interests.
Gibson has a distinguished career as a director, and is widely experienced in the gaming industry. Until June 2009, he was Senior Independent Director at William Hill plc, where he served on the board for over seven years. Previously, he had been CEO of Littlewoods plc, which, at that time incorporated Littlewoods Pools and Bet Direct. He is also Chairman of Homeserve plc. He has also served as a non-executive director on the boards of National Express plc, Littlewoods plc and Somerfield plc.
Playtech’s non-executive chairman, Roger Withers, said: “Barry has bought a wealth of experience to Playtech during a very important period of its development and has been an integral part of its growth. I and we are extremely grateful to him for his service to the company and wish him every success in his future endeavours.”
“I am stepping down from the Board as the increasing demands of my other commitments have meant that I am unable to devote the appropriate time to my duties as a Board member,” said Gibson. “Playtech is a dynamic company with leading technology and a talented workforce. I wish the company a successful future.”
Playtech has commenced a search for a new Non-executive Director to ensure compliance with governance requirements.
