French operator Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) launched pari mutuel betting in partnership with the Jockey Club Brasileiro this past weekend enabling Brazilian punters access to French horserace betting.
The year-long partnership between PMU and Jockey Club Brasileiro has resulted in the development of a network of seventy-five points of sale in addition to a telephone and internet betting system which reportedly generates Euro 51.1 million of stakes.
“Our first year in Brazil has given rise to exciting prospects,” Alain Resplandy-Bernard, Deputy General Manager of the PMU, said. “We hope to triple stakes by 2020, enhance races and revitalize the Brazilian horse racing sector as a whole. This new pari mutuel betting development is, therefore, a major asset to strengthen our offer in order for us to reach our objectives.”
