Top online and live tournament poker professional Phil Galfond added another string to his business bow this week with the launch of a new DFS enterprise branded Draftboard.
The business is managed by Galfond’s partner Dan Quinn as CEO and hopes to distinguish itself from the usual run of such companies by adding features that make the proposition more attractive to recreational players.
One of these is dubbed ‘fair match” and features separate lobbies for “Rookie” ($1-$5) and “Veteran” ($10-$50) games. Players are allowed only to enter contests in one of the lobbies each day for each sport.
The Draftboard site offers random opponent selection to avoid professionals and more experienced players targeting less competent opponents, and a special multi-entry system matching first entries with other first entries, second entries with second entries etc.
Galfond has also highlighted the site’s “live” functionality that enables players to follow the action with real-time animations that resemble “game cast” screens used to follow games online, enhancing the in-contest player experience.
Galfond is something of an entrepreneur – he is also working on the launch of a new online poker site announced late last year (see previous report).
