According to local media reports international online poker provider PokerStars is preparing to shut down its Costa Rica office, a move that could impact up to 300 local employees.
The reason for the shutdown is apparently the company’s increasing focus on the regulated markets segment of online sports, casino and poker, with particular attention to the US region as sports betting grows following the recent US Supreme Court ruling which give individual states the right to decide their own gambling laws.
