Presidential assistant fired on online gambling and tax allegations

US press reports Tuesday revealed that John McEntee, a 27-year-old PA to US President Donald Trump had been fired and escorted from the White House on unspecified allegations related to online gambling and personal tax mishandling.

Quoting senior administration sources, the Wall Street Journal claimed that McEntee was being investigated by the Secret Service, and had been escorted from the White House so rapidly that he left his jacket in his office.

McEntee had worked for the Trump election campaign, transitioning to the White House as the president’s PA. The 2020 Trump election campaign immediately announced that it had hired McEntee as a senior adviser following his White House departure.

The allegations against McEntee remain unclear and little detail has been released on the investigation into his affairs.
