U.S. film producer gets into social gaming for land casinos

US film producer and serial entrepreneur George Zaloom boosted his new GoPlay social gaming venture this week with a contribution to the Gamble of Social Casino Game Distribution discussion at the Casual Connect conference in San Francisco, recommending that both developers and publishers embrace new game platforms that enable them to easily expand their distribution footprint.

Zaloom is headed to Las Vegas with GoPlay, which provides an open-source platform for developers to expand their distribution beyond traditional social networks.

GoPlay’s Facebook-compatible API enables developers to easily integrate a social game. These are distributed to Goplay’s network of casino websites that in turn promote the games to their customers.

On the casino side, the GoPlay platform enables land-based casino operators to embed social casino games directly into their websites as a way to increase site retention and attract new business.

“More and more states are moving towards legalizing online gambling,” Zaloom said, noting that his company has staked a claim to part of this lucrative and evolving sector.

Zaloom agrees with most pundits that the legalisation of online gambling in the United States will have a major impact on the industry, creating both problems and wealth.

He is concerned that underage gambling may increase, and suggested to developers that they self-regulate from the beginning by taking a responsible approach…and being flexible enough to accommodate regulation, which he is sure will come.
