Two men accused of promoting a nation-wide US online sports betting ring shuttered by enforcement officials in 2015 received relatively light “conditional discharge” sentencing this week after pleading guilty.
The men, Julio Alvarenga and Andres Arriaga, were part of a $32 billion gambling ring associated with the now shuttered 365action.com website, which became the subject of massive police raids triggered by enforcement agencies in Queens, New York.
15 other men were arrested at the time, including alleged ringleader Cyrus Irani, who is set for trial on April 26.
