Luc Pettett, founder and CEO of digital racing publisher punters.com.au is set to depart the company after nine years. Starting out as a blog in 2008 and acquired by News Corp last year, Punters.com.au provides audience news, results, tipping, odds comparison and a forum for horse racing enthusiasts.
When Pettett departs early next year to spend more time with his family, he will be replaced as CEO by Ben Bloomfield, who is currently Tabcorp’s general manager wagering, technology and media.
Pettett was involved in selecting his successor, and he will continue to be available to consult with the business.
Pettett said it was a tough decision to leave the business he built but that he is confident that in Bloomfield he has found a highly competent executive to further the company’s growth and maintain its high standards.
He said in a company statement that he knew that in Ben Bloomfield he had found someone who would continue Punters growth and maintain the high standards members have come to expect.
News Corp thanked Pettett for his diligence in ensuring a smooth transition. Executive chairman Australasia Michael Miller said:
“I congratulate Luc on building a business like Punters and thank him for making sure it is positioned for continued expansion as he departs. His efforts to ensure the incoming CEO Ben Bloomfield matched Punters’ aspirations have been excellent.”
