Asia-focused game distributor QTech Games has launched GameFactory, an initiative targeting investment and recruitment of independent startup or up-and-coming studios.
GameFactory intends entering into partnerships with these studios with a view to encouraging their continued independence but would handle sales of their content through a central sales force, utilising its existing distribution model.
QTech has launched an initial $ 3 million fund-raising round for “proof of concept”.
Qualifying studios would preferably have a portfolio of at least five, revenue generating, games, QTech’s Global CEO Markus Nasholm said.
QTech anticipates the GameFactory studio group will comprise of 10-15 independent studios with the ultimate objective to become the “best casino provider on the market – a super studio group that offers a wide variety of quality games with regular releases.
GameFactory has lofty ambitions expressing its intent on taking on the likes of top providers including Microgaming, NetEnt and Playtech in a B2B supplier era that “has yet to truly consolidate”.
Our readers will recall, QTech Games acquired a majority share in emerging Swedish studio Snowborn Games, whose ‘Portals’ title, was launched on limited release in January and is exclusively available via the QTech Games platform.
“Over the coming months, the initial goal is to complete the funding round, make the key investments and create a proof of concept, before embarking on the larger acquisition spree,” Nasholm said. “We look forward to hearing from any interested studios and investors, and will unveil our key senior recruitments in the coming months.”
