French gaming operator and former French monopoly Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) announced record full year 2011 results with turnover crossing the Euro 10 billion mark, an increase of 7.3 percent over 2010.
The firm’s online arm, covering horse race betting, sports betting and poker, posted an impressive increase of 45 percent to Euro 1.346 billion.
Considering PMU leads the French online horse race betting market, has an approx. 20 percent of the online sports betting market and “stands at the forefront of online poker”, its plans going into 2012 will see the company focus on continued growth in horse race betting and expanding its share of the market in sports betting and online poker said chief executive officer and president, Philippe Germond.
Germond expects tough market conditions in the coming year affected by the Euro Zone crisis and a looming recession affecting punters disposable income.
PMU’s 2011 results mark its 14th consecutive year of an increase in turnover.
