Oficiul National pentru Jocuri de Noroc (ONJN), the Romanian gambling authority, has announced the publication of a blacklist identifying 48 websites that have accessed Romanian online punters without the necessary licensing and have consequently been banned.
The eastern European country’s tough new laws require operators to be licensed and regulated…and pay a stiff tax rate of 20 percent on GGR. This is backdated five years if they have previously been operating in the country.
So far only three online companies have licensed, Stanley Bet, NetBet and Winmasters. These operators are cleared for operations in Romania until the end of 2015, when they will be eligible to apply for 10-year licenses.
Local media reports claim that BetOnline, Bodog, Casino Tropez, Intertops, Slotland, TitanBet and Titan Poker are among those on the black list, but it has not been possible to confirm this.
