Opponents of the nomination of Rostov as one of Russia’s four acceptable land gambling regions have been successful in having the area removed from the gambling permitted list.
Russian president Dimitry Medvedev has signed off on legislation through the State Duma lower house and the Federation Council upper house, removing the south western region from the list of permissible gambling zones.
The new legislation additionally permits the Government to shut down a gambling zone before the expiration of the ten-year period since its establishment.
