This weekend’s kick-off of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, hosted this series by the United Kingdom, sees two legendary names in the game once more in the media.
Online gambling group Betfair has signed up former England and Ireland captains Lawrence Dallaglio and Keith Wood to front its coverage of rugby’s most prestigious tournament, held every four years.
Dallaglio was a member of the 2003 English side which won the World Cup, one of only four nations that can claim that victory since the championship’s introduction in 1987 – South Africa, Australia and New Zealand have each won the series twice. A tough, fast player he won 85 caps for his appearances for England between 1995 and 2007 before retiring from international rugby.
Keith Wood is equally experienced and in his playing days as a forward was respected as one of the hard men in the game. He captained Ireland between 1996 and 2003, winning 58 test caps for his dedication and contributions.
Both men played in British and Irish Lions rugby tours to the southern hemisphere.
The two former players will appear in Betfair video presentations and publicity, giving expert opinions and discussing the games and players.
The current championship will culminate in a final at Twickenham on October 31.
