Russian search company in trouble for betting adverts

Russian media reports have revealed that the internet search company Yandex may face penalties following allegations that it carried betting advertisements during the recent World Cup football championships.

The reports claim that Russian regulatory authorities have targeted the search firm in connection with the adverts, said to be from sports betting company Fonbet.

Confirming its investigation, the Russian directorate of the Federal Antimonopoly Service noted that the advertisement of gambling and betting online is prohibited, and advised that the Yandex case will be reviewed on September 25.
